Welcome to the drum lessons section of the site. The lessons section is designed in 3 parts; a sight reading section, a solo section and a technique/rudiment section.

The idea is, that you would work (with help from a tutor) through the sight reading section on the snare drum. Then, apply those rhythms to the corresponding solo, and finally end with the technique/rudiment exercise. I recommend that equal time is spent on each exercise.

Practice makes perfect

My drum lessons are designed to develop all aspects of drumming at a progressive rate. If you don't practice sight reading and rudiments.... YOUR PLAYING WON'T DEVELOP AS WELL AS IT COULD!

Key to notation

In order to get the best out of these lessons you will need to be aware of the Key to notation. Once you have learned this thoroughly, you can proceed to the introductory level lessons.

A little extra help!

HammerHead is a simple drum computer program which features six separate channels, and 29 built-in drum sounds. You can easily program drum patterns, and play along to help develop that rock solid timing all drummers need!
